Vernon Watkin Motors Mustangs drop Coca-Cola tournament opener
Nicholas Varabioff and Greyson Valente each scored twice to lead the Vancouver Thunderbirds to a 6-3 win over the host Vernon Watkin Motors Mustangs in the opening game Thursday of the 41st annual Coca-Cola Pee Wee Invitational Hockey Tournament at the Vernon Civic Arena.
Reed Cashato, Matt Kowalski and Connor Johnston replied for the Mustangs, who take on the Spokane Jr. Chiefs Thursday at 6 p.m. in the featured opening-day game of the eight-team tournament.
The tournament final goes Sunday at 6 p.m. All games are at the Civic Arena.
