Kal Tire offers grants
Vernon’s Kal Tire is celebrating its 60th anniversary by helping fund six recreational resurfacing projects that use recycled tire products.
From playgrounds to running tracks, Kal Tire is now taking provincewide applications.
“The 60-year milestone is something we want to celebrate with our communities and the people who helped us make Kal Tire what we are today,” said Robert Foord, Kal Tire president.
“It is part of our culture to support the communities in which our company operates and our team members live, work and play.”
Kal Tire 60th anniversary grants are available under the same criteria as Tire Stewardship B.C.’s community grant program.
For the six lucky recipients, Kal Tire will provide the 50 per cent portion of the funds normally required to be provided by recipients.
Since 2007, Kal Tire has diverted more than 55,000 tonnes of scrap tires from the environment into the recycling stream in B.C. This equates to 2.9 million tires.
Applications for grants will be accepted by Kal Tire until May 6.
