Screamfest brings some chills to Claremont secondary Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. It goes from spooky at the beginning of the night for elementary kids to a bit scarier after 7 p.m. for middle and high school age students.
Pumpkin Art on the Avenue features hundreds of pumpkins created by John Vickers, displayed in the green space behind Oak Bay Municipal Hall. The event is open from 5 to 9 pm each evening from tonight until Halloween. It will be open until 10 p.m. on Halloween night.
SATURDAY
Forest Spook-tacular drop-in event Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Francis/King Regional Park. Join in the guided walks at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. if you dare. Displays, Halloween crafts, and hot ghoulish brew await. Wear a costume and win a prize. Meet at the Francis/King Nature Centre off Munn Road.
Don’t miss the one-of-a-kind family event, Esquimalt Parks and Recreation’s Annual Pumpkin Swim. Make a splash in the floating pumpkin patch and then take home a big orange one to carve for Halloween. Pumpkins hit the pool from 1-3 p.m. for $5.75 to drop-in or free with your pass.
My Chosen Cafe and At Your Service Events are partnering for a Halloween-themed fundraiser at the Metchosin Hall, 4401 William Head Rd. Funds from the event will help a Colwood youth with a rare spinal disease. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20.
SUNDAY
Pets West is holding a Halloween party for their furry friends Sunday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their Broadmead Village location. The fundraiser for Pacific Animal Therapy Society will feature prizes for the best costume and scariest costume, while Avid Agility will be on hand to put on an agility demonstration and allowing people to try their own dogs on the agility equipment.
Animal Grossology from noon to 3 p.m. at Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary. Find out about slug slime, owl barf and even the scoop on poop. Check out worms, slugs, spiders and more as you learn about the secret world of the revolting. You might even see executive director Kathleen Burton eat a worm. Admission by donation.
You’ll hardly recognize Government Street as it transforms into a frightfully fun block, shutting down to vehicle traffic for the festive and FREE Wicked Victoria from noon to 5 p.m. Come in your costumes for a wickedly fun day!
HALLOWEEN NIGHT
Trick-or-treaters of all ages are welcome to the Heritage Haunted House (3808 Heritage Lane in Saanich) from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Halloween night (Oct. 31). Entrance is by donation in support of Help Fill A Dream Foundation.
Trick or Treat on the Avenue welcomes all ages to celebrate Halloween with a giant community trick-or-treat from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oak Bay Avenue. Oak Bay Village businesses host the event from Foul Bay Road to Monterey Avenue, shutting down the street and offering live music and entertainment.
