Armstrong ready to celebrate holiday

Armstrong will turn into Whoville as community hosts annual downtown light up Thursday.

Armstrong will turn into Whoville.

Loosely based on the Dr. Seuss classic, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce annual Downtown Light Up and Tree Lighting Ceremony will have a Whoville-theme this year.

The event is slated for 5 p.m. Nov. 24, in downtown Armstrong.

The parade will begin at The Village Cheese and end at Spirit Square with Santa’s arrival and the tree lighting.

The chamber would like to invite all area schools, businesses, churches, organizations and municipalities to participate in the parade by entering a float, marching band, or other appropriate entry.

The chamber is limiting the number of floats to 25, so register early to ensure participation, and to decorate your float Whoville- or winter-themed decorations with an emphasis on bright colours and lights, lights and more lights. The more lights, the better.

Please note that the official Whoville Santa is the only Santa allowed in the parade. The same goes for Mrs. Claus.

If you have any questions or wish to register over the phone, please contact the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce at 250 546-8155.
