Nominations for outstanding leaders sought

Second annual Community Leader Awards to be presented in June; deadline to nominate is April 25

The Community Leader Awards recognized 30 individuals in the North Okanagan who make a difference in the community.

The deadline is approaching to recognize the North Okanagan’s leaders.

Submissions for the second annual Morning Star Community Leader Awards must be in by Tuesday.

“Nominate someone who makes a major or positive contribution to our community,” said Morning Star publisher Ian Jensen. “Tell us their story and let’s celebrate their dedication.”

Awards will be handed out in 10 categories:

Coach; Mentor; Courage; Above And Beyond; Emergency Service; Service Organization Volunteer; Environmental Leader; Volunteer; Youth Volunteer; Community Builder.

Information on the categories, plus nomination forms, can be found inside The Morning Star. You can also e-mail the entry to contests@vernonmorningstar.com or enter online at vernonmorningstar.com.

To nominate a person for a Community Leader Award, write an approximately 800-to-1,200 word (1 to 1.5 pages typed) submission and include information such as length of time nominee has spent in the community; specific examples of the work and/or contribution he/she has made; community associations and memberships. Nomination forms should be clipped to the written submission.

Provide references of other individuals who may be able to provide further support on the nominee’s behalf.

The awards will be handed out at a special evening in June.
