Prospera Credit Union has sponsored 16 youth to attend YES! Camp.
Vernon’s Vandam Hofer and Kelowna’s Kellan Chung and Shaun Rehaume were amongst the lucky 16 chosen for the opportunity to attend YES! Camp on Vancouver Island for a chance to develop leadership skills.
Prospera Credit Union has been providing 16 people aged 14 to 18-years-old the ability to have a week filled of experiential learning with peers from across the province for six years.
YES! Camp gives the participants experience with teamwork, communication, co-operation, and trust by offering the chance to hike, canoe, and kayak.
The sponsorship includes all food, accommodation, and transportation needs.
Shawn Good, president and CEO of Prospera Credit Union, says it’s a great opportunity for the credit union to encourage young people to explore how the co-operative principles fit with their own values.
“Caring about the needs of the community is at the heart of what it means to be a co-operative,” said Good.
“Through our YES! Camp sponsorship, we’re providing a fun and engaging leadership opportunity for local youth.”
