CENTRE POINT: Bring on the cheer, Christmas is almost here
With the busy month of December fast approaching, a troupe of volunteers decked the halls of the Vernon Performing Arts Centre on Thursday.
Their smiles from ear-to-ear were a testament to Christmas cheer all around; a fantastic reward from the task at hand.
As a Christmas aficionado, I love when others find that same joy in the season. The tree, the garland, twinkle lights and poinsettias: they’re simple decorations which serve as a wonderful reminder of the heartwarming events scheduled to take place at the centre in the coming weeks. They’re events that make us laugh, dance and sing — the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit!
The 60th annual Rotary Carol Festival is set to take place this coming weekend. It’s a true Okanagan holiday tradition featuring local choirs, musicians and special guests.
The festival consists of three shows: Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. Year after year, this is an extremely popular event and admission is by donation so plan to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
You can catch a first glimpse of what’s to come for next year’s Vernon Winter Carnival at the Queen Silver Star Fashion Show, coming up Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Centre.
The fashion show will formally introduce this year’s Queen Silver Star candidates during an evening of great fashion and fun.
Tickets are still available through the candidates or the Ticket Seller box office by calling 549-SHOW (7469).
The Louisiana Hayride rolls back into the Performing Arts Centre on Dec. 5 for a very special holiday celebration.
