Blue Rodeo returns to the Okanagan

After playing to more than 70,000 fans across the country in celebration of their 25th anniversary early in 2013, Blue Rodeo is  heading back out on the road for their In Our Nature Tour, which stops at Kelowna’s Prospera Place Monday, Jan. 6.

The tour comes on the heels of th  band’s latest album, In Our Nature, released in October.

“Doing a lot of touring while making this record helped a lot,” said Greg Keelor, who shares vocals and guitar duty with fellow Blue Rodeo front-man Jim Cuddy.

“Everybody was getting along and the band was playing well together. It’s a good crop of songs and everyone just played it right and they played it beautifully.”

In the mid-’80s, Blue Rodeo played the Toronto club scene relentlessly, building a dedicated following that would show up to every show.

Close to three decades of constant touring, Blue Rodeo fans continue to fill arenas all across the country. With the release of In Our Nature, the band is announcing what is estimated to be its 50th tour of Canada.

With the addition of guitarist/singer Colin Cripps to the Blue Rodeo lineup, the band is now a seven piece, with Cuddy and Keelor, bassist Bazil Donovan, drummer Glenn Milchem, guitarist/pedal steel/mandolin player Bob Egan, and keyboardist Mike Boguski.

Opening for Blue Rodeo will be recording artists The Devin Cuddy Band, led by the band’s namesake, vocalist,  pianist, and son of Jim Cuddy.

Tickets for the Blue Rodeo show at Prospera Place are $48.50 to $65.50 plus charges, available at selectyourtickets.com, (250) 762-5050. Those who purchase two tickets will receive a free copy of In Our Nature.
