Smooth and syrupy jazz grooves flow from the beautiful arts heritage property of the Caetani Cultural Centre.

Hailing from East Vancouver, The Company B Jazz Band is for fans of classic swing jazz and vintage vocal harmony numbers in the vein of great vocalists like the Andrews sisters. The band features impeccable three-part female harmonies over a slick and authentic early era jazz group usually including guitar, stand up, keys, and drums, performing a repertoire of dozens of well-known household standards and a few revised numbers.

Joining The Company B Jazz Band is local supporting act Mice in the Honey Bucket, a homegrown street corner ragtime trio hammering country blues and syrupy jazz standards on rhythm guitar, tenor banjo, and mandolin. Mice in the Honey Bucket was a hit at the Coldstream Coffee House this spring, with a lineup of childhood Coldstream neighbours Meagan May and Sian Macleod, now featuring Armstrong-raised musician Liam McIvor on mandolin, singing tongue-in-cheek lyrics and well known and lost songs from the before First World War.

The Company B Jazz Band and Mice in the Honeybucket play the Caetani Centre courtyard Aug. 6. Doors open 5 p.m. sharp, music starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Pay at the gates, with available on surrounding side streets. Admission is $15 adults, $10 students, under 13 by donation, and $25 for a family.
