The Vernon Jazz Club, recognized as a top Jazz music venue in Canada by ClicketTicket in their article, The Best 35 Canadian Jazz Clubs, is pleased to present the Gabriel Palatchi Trio to start off our fall season.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Palatchi studied classical music at the conservatory Manuel de Falla school in Argentina. He then went on to get a degree in music from the Berklee College of Music.

During this time, he studied under many great maestros of blues, tango, jazz, and Latin jazz such as Alvaro Torres, Ricardo Nole and Ernesto Jodos. After graduating in 2008, Palatchi packed up his piano and started to travel in order to expand on his musical studies and experiences. These travels continue today.

Palatchi’s experiences led to the composition and production of his first solo CD Diario de Viaje (Travel Diary) in 2010 and was chosen as one of the best Latin jazz albums of the year by JAZZ FM Toronto. His second album, Caja Musical (Music Box), was recorded in Buenos Aires in May 2013. Both productions feature musical arrangements from over 20 accomplished musicians from Latin America.

Touted as “one of the new young lions of Latin jazz,” by EJAZZNEWS, Palatchi creates music that is an original blend of different genres such as Latin jazz, tango, funk, klezmer, gypsy, reggae, samba, and electronic, a representation of the many cultures that have influenced his music.

For the past five years, the Gabriel Palatchi Trio has toured throughout various parts of Argentina, Mexico and Canada, performing at important venues and international music festivals including the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Victoria International Jazz Festival, Quebec City International Jazz Festival,, Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, Waterloo International Jazz Festival, Victoria Tango Festival, Kaslo Jazz Festival, Starbelly Jam Music Festival, Robson Valley Music Festival, Puerto Morelos Music Festival, Caribbean Days Festival, Fiestaval Latin Festival and Central Music Festival among others.

Palatchi’s third album Trivolution was recorded and released in Mexico City in June 2015. Trivolution was selected as the Gold Medal Winner on the composer/album categories and on the TOP TEN 2015 of the Global Music Awards.

The album presents a trio concept featuring Jose Chema Gonzalez on drums, Kerry Galloway on electric bass, and special guests.

The Gabriel Palatchi Trio will be onstage at the Vernon Jazz Club (3000-31 Street) Sept. 2 , Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Cash only bar on site.
