Once described as the “hill-billy love-child of David Lynch and Nick Cave,” Petunia, together with his Vancouver-based backing band, The Vipers, got the crowds swinging at the Falkland Community Hall Thursday evening. The band, which is currently on an ambitiously timed North American tour promoting their latest full-length album, Lonesome Heavy and Lonesome growled, howled, and yes, yodelled their way through a one and half hour jam session that included a whole slew of genres —from blues, hillbilly country, rock ‘n roll and avant-garde.
