If you love butter tarts, it’s time to set your appetite dial for the third annual B.C. Butter Tart Festival in Lumby.

This year’s festival takes place Sept. 9 at Whitevalley Community Park in Lumby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The theme for the 2017 festival is ‘Oh Canada!’ and is an homage to our great country and its extraordinary cuisine,” said Donna Easto, with the Lumby Public Market Society, which hosts the festival.

Easto said there will be plenty of vendors selling scrumptious traditional and non-traditional tarts. This year, local charitable and non-profit organizations are invited to join in.

“The festival is a cost-effective fundraising opportunity,” she said. “And, great news: the butter tart contest has been simplified. Entries will be limited to homemade butter tarts and shells. One bold baker is promising scapes and bacon tarts – yum!”

Registration forms for the contest are available online at www.lumbymarket.com, by e-mail at lumbypublicmarket@gmail.com or call 778-473-2226.
