The members of Coldstream Christian Church have given a helping hand to Teen Junction with a donation of $8,857.

“The Teen Junction, as part of the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club, is excited to be the recipient of Coldstream Christian Church’s Community Giving, in which they take one complete Sunday’s offering and donate it to a charity in which none of their members are involved,” said Nicole Makohoniuk, senior youth worker at Teen Junction. “This was part of the church’s Encounter on Giving sermon on giving, which included giving prayerfully and in many ways.

“It was an exciting opportunity to be able to present the needs of Teen Junction to this church, and not only has Teen Junction benefited from the $8,857, but we have had offers of volunteering and food prep from the members of the church, which was so encouraging.”

Makohoniuk said the money will directly support the programming for the more than 95 youth who use the services of Teen Junction every month. The drop-in youth centre provides an environment where young people 13 to 18 years old experience a sense of belonging through peer interaction and positive adult relationships.

“A very special thank you goes out to Coldstream Christian Church for the donation,” she said.
