Downtown Vernon is staying open a little later this summer with Thursday night shopping.
Every Thursday night in July and August, the Downtown Vernon Association is offering retail therapy with Late Night Shopping, with almost 30 specialty shops and boutiques staying open until 8 p.m.
We are also pleased to announce that Downtown Vernon’s Parkade will be open until 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays to accommodate all of the activity. Stroll the downtown streets, shop, dine and enjoy some live music at Civic Sounds. With the parking under control and the stores open late, it’s never been easier to shop in downtown Vernon.
“I like how going out for supper and shopping local can go hand-in-hand. I think it’s going to shift the culture of Vernon in a positive way,” said Pam, with Pink Spotted Goat.
Alfie, with A&E Community Market and Consignment Centre, said his store’s shoppers are part of the family.
“People find specifically what they are looking for because, in the evening, they have more time to look,” he said. “Evenings are a time for fun and family.”
The North Okanagan attracts tourists from all over the world during the summer months. Having business hours extended during the summer to accommodate tourists and attract local families and residents will provide a vibrant community atmosphere and is a great way to celebrate summer in downtown Vernon.
