Five members of 1st BX Scout Troop have been recognized for their dedication to Scouting and going above and beyond.

Jeremy Bader, Taylor Clark, Brooke Francescutti, Brynne Francescutti and Thomas Francescutti have earned their Chief Scout’s Awards, the highest award which can be achieved at the Scout level in Scouts Canada.

“The Chief Scout’s Award actually gives the youth additional high school credits,” said Scouter Kevin Bader. “There is quite a resumé of work behind every youth’s award, including community service, first aid training, a host of individual badge work, and an individual project — approved by the rest of the troop — designed to bridge one’s passions with a community need.”

Bader said this year’s projects included compassion bags for Vernon residents, games for Vernon Jubilee Hospital patients, raising money for kids in Cambodia, cleaning up the Fulton Wetlands, and Valentine’s gifts for residents of Noric House.

“The ceremony was held under a beautiful sunset at Kin Beach on June 5 and was extra special thanks to the help of piper Tom Skinner from the Kalamalka Highlanders, Rick Harker of Easter Seals Camp Winfield, and Constable Megan Valenta,” he said.
