Zumba Party in Vernon helps people in Bolivia
Dancing in Vernon can help build a better life for people in Bolivia.
Kay Nguyen, a third-year international relations major at UBC Okanagan, is organizing a Co-ed Zumba Party and silent auction as a fundraiser for community work she will be doing as part of a volunteer team in Bolivia. The UBCO Global Youth Volunteer Network team of 13 students will spend May in Bolivia helping with projects which include a community-run eco-lodge in the Madidi National Park region, an orphanage and water filtration projects.
She is looking for donations for a silent auction to run from Feb. 27 to March 2 with the results announced at the Co-ed Zumba Party March 2.
The party takes place March 2 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladies World Health and Fitness, 4406-27th St., Vernon, with Zumba instructors from Ladies World and other local fitness centres. Admission is by a minimum donation of $7 per person.
Global Youth Volunteer Network is a registered charity. For more information, see www.gyvn.ca. To make a donation of an item or service for the silent auction, or to bid in the silent auction, contact Ladies World at 250-503-2363.
