Christmas is a time for generosity and good food, and a Vernon event is returning to bring those holiday qualities together in a festive setting.

Young or old, everyone is invited to the ninth annual Vernon Festive Feast Saturday, Dec. 16, at the All Saints Angelican Church hall at 27th Street and 32nd Avenue. The doors will be open at 11 a.m. and the festivities will run until 12:30 p.m.

Kelowna magician Leif David will go from table to table performing his mind-bending tricks, while Jim Leonard will conjure up music on his keyboard. Santa’s helpers will be sending everyone away with a big bag of gifts.

A delicious turkey dinner will be served at tables decorated with the beautiful artwork of students from Beairsto and St. James’ schools. People will be served by dedicated volunteers from the groups that participate in the Saturday Street Lunch program throughout the year.

“Please come, won’t you? Children are welcome. The only cost is a smile!” said organizer Michael Robinson.

Robinson sends a heartfelt thank-you to the local businesses that help make this event and other meals possible: Buy-Low Foods, SilverStar Mountain Resort, Davison Orchards, Butcher Boys and The Mediterranean Market. All the volunteers and church congregations that participate in the Saturday Street Lunch program are also greatly appreciated.

Faith groups, organizations or businesses that would like to be involved in the Saturday Street Lunch are invited to contact All Saints Anglican Church at 250-542-3179.
