Pre-election forums planned for Vernon
Vernon voters will have opportunities to hear directly from those wanting to represent them at city hall.
Forums are scheduled for Oct. 27 and Nov. 7, with the candidates for mayor and councillor scheduled to attend.
The Oct. 27 environmental forum will be hosted by the Sustainable Environment Network Society at 7 p.m. at the Schubert Centre.
“I will send questions and a bit of background information to each candidate,” said Julia Lissau, with SENS.
“Answers to their questions will be enlarged and posted at the back of the room for all to read during the forum and posted on our website.”
The Nov. 7 forum starts at 7 p.m. at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre.
“The forum will provide an opportunity for candidates to state their platforms, and for the public to ask questions both in written form and open mic,” said Brian van Wensem, with the Vernon Performing Arts Centre Society.
“There will be no cost for forum participants or audience members, although we will be requesting donations from audience attendees for the society’s children’s theatre fund.”
The fund helps purchase children’s theatre tickets, which the Family Resource Centre distributes to families that would otherwise be unable to attend performances.
