Council grants funds

Spallumcheen council has ratified a number of grant-in-aid recommendations for community groups from its committee of the whole.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Arts Society will receive $2,000, but a further request for $4,000 for exterior renovations was not supported by council.

The museum will also receive $9,750 in fee for service from the township.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce will also receive a fee for service in the amount of $8,000, but only for 2012.

Other organizations receiving grants-in-aid include O’Keefe Ranch ($5,000); Okanagan Boys and Girls Club ($1,500); North Okanagan Ploughing Match Association ($1,000) and the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department ($500).

Council did not support two other grants-in-aid requests from the Armstrong Spallumcheen Environmental Trust ($2,000) and the Vernon Fraternal Order of Eagles Disaster Relief Trailer ($1,000).
