Vernon plane crash cause still undetermined
The investigation into Saturday's plane crash at Marshall Field in Vernon that killed the two occupants could take awhile.
A Transportation Safety Board of Canada official said investigations into plane crashes similar to the one Saturday typically take up to a year to determine the official cause.
Killed in the crash, which happened just after 1 p.m. shortly after taking off from the Vernon Airport, were pilot James Langley, 59, of Kelowna, and his passenger, Karim Makalai, 53, of Port Moody.
Amateur photographer Ron Mack of Salmon Arm, who was at the former Lakers clubhouse at Marshall Field helping set up for his nephew's wedding, heard the plane sputtering, then saw the subsequent crash and explosion.
He grabbed his camera and shot the accompanying photo of two unknown men trying in vain to put out the fire with their extinguishers.
