Housing starts down
Housing construction experienced a setback over the summer.
The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation reports there were 15 housing starts in Vernon in August, down 12 per cent from the same period in 2011.
Of the 15 starts, 13 were single-detached units and two were multiple units.
Year-to-date, there have been 111 housing starts in Vernon, up seven per cent from 104 starts during the first right months of 2011.
The 111 starts include 82 single-detached units and 29 multiple units.
