A serious situation has surfaced in the Enderby area.

The community will only have one physician starting in January after the only other doctor in town announced he is moving to Saskatchewan.

"It's a huge concern. it's very troubling," said Mayor Howie Cyr.

Beyond residents of Enderby itself, this will impact people in the rural areas like Kingfisher and Grindrod.

"It may give people the thought of moving to Vernon or Salmon Arm," said Jackie Pearase, rural Enderby director.

There were about six doctors in Enderby a year ago and the number has dwindled since then,

The Interior Health Authority has been trying to recruit physicians and has stated one new doctor may move to Enderby next summer.
