RCMP cancel amber alert in Kootenays

Updated 7:43 a.m. - RCMP confirm that three-year-old Alvin Barnett has been located this morning, safe and sound.

He was  located in White Fish Montana at around 6 a.m. Pacific time. As a result of a civilian witness seeing the vehicle parked on a side street, local police were alerted. Robert Barnett is in police custody.

Update: The amber alert has been cancelled as of 6:49 a.m. Friday. No details have been provided by the RCMP.

AMBER ALERT:

RCMP in Elk Valley have issued an amber alert for three-year-old Alvin BARNET, three-foot-2, 35 pounds, believed wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

Suspect is the boy's father, Robert BARNET, 39, five-foot-five, Caucasian, green eyes. He is believed to be wearing a dark sweater, blue jeans and runners.

He is possibly unshaven with some facial hair. Robert BARNET has reddish blonde hair and a scar above the right eyebrow.

The two are believed to be in a 2002 blue Subaru Outback, B.C. licence plate 347-SBL. The vehicle is believed to be travelling southbound on Highway 93.
