Upgrades planned for sections of Westside Road
Driving through Westside Road is about to become safer upon completion of a major infrastructure upgrade.
The $4.5 million project involves the re-aligning, widening, shouldering and installation of barriers for a total of approximately two kilometres at two separate sections of Westside Road.
"These projects will make a significant difference for drivers," said Ben Stewart, Westside-Kelowna MLA.
"The demands of a fast-growing community have taken their toll on infrastructure designed for far fewer people. We've announced positive and decisive steps to correct that."
The project will include re-alignment of 280 metres of narrow two-lane road with two inferior curves and the replacement of a 600 millimetre culvert at Cinnabar Creek.
The project will improve safety by removing 30-kilometre-an-hour curves, widening the roadway to include paved shoulders and installing concrete barriers.
Paving is due to be completed by April, with the entire project done by May.
