Quiet New Year's Eve for officers
New Year’s Eve was routine for Vernon RCMP officers.
Members conducted several road blocks Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
“There were two immediate roadside prohibitions fails resulting in 90-day prohibitions and 30-day vehicle impounds,” said Gord Molendyk, detachment spokesperson.
There was one prohibited driver pursuant to the Criminal Code, five speeding offences, two intersection offences, five tickets issued for Motor Vehicle Act offences and seven written warnings issued.
“Eleven people spent the night in the Vernon cells mainly for fights and other liquor related activities,” said Molendyk.
A large crowd gathered at Silver Star Mountain Resort but there were no problems.
“Our officers reported no arrests and everyone seemed to be having a great time,” said Molendyk.
“Only a few people were asked to dispose of open liquor.”
