Enderby robbery suspect taken into custody

There has been a major development in a string of North Okanagan robberies.

A maroon van with a suspect in the Dec. 29 Enderby Inn Liquor Store theft was located in the Upper Sahali area of Kamloops just before 9 p.m. Dec. 31.

“The suspect was arrested after crashing the vehicle into a pole,” said Gord Molendyk, with the North Okanagan RCMP.

The suspect remains in custody in Kamloops.

Officers are currently looking into the possibility that the suspect may be involved in a second robbery in Enderby and an incident in Armstrong.

On Dec. 31 at about 6 p.m., the Rosedale Grocery on Rosedale Avenue in Armstrong was robbed.

“The male suspect jumped the counter, opened the till and stole an undisclosed amount of cash,” said Molendyk.

“The suspect was confronted by the business owner with a bat.”

The suspect was described as six-feet tall and in his mid to late 20s.

He had a slender build with a grey toque and beige jacket.

“Information from witnesses is there was a second suspect waiting outside,” said Molendyk.

According to police, the suspects fled the Rosedale Grocery in a maroon van.

On Dec. 29, a male suspect entered the Enderby Inn Liquor Store and produced a knife. The individual took money and cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

RCMP also received reports of a robbery in progress at the Enderby Dollar Store Dec. 30. A man attempted to pry open the cash register with a knife.
