Health care announcement looming
An announcement on health care in the North Okanagan is scheduled for Thursday.
Health Minister Margaret MacDiarmid and Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster will be at Vernon Jubilee Hospital at 1:30 p.m.
No details about the media conference have been released, but the government has been lobbied to expand acute care beds at the hospital to ease overcrowding.
In April 2012, the Ministry of Health stated the two top floors in the Polson tower would be developed for acute care beds. However, specifics on the the number of beds and the time frame were not provided at that time.
