Vernon firefighters converge on East Hill home
UPDATED 10:20 A,M.
Two couples were forced out of their home early Tuesday morning.
Fire broke out in the home in the 2000 block of 30th Avenue just before 6 a.m. One set of couples was upstairs in a suite, while the other set was downstairs.
Emergency Social Services is looking after the two individuals who were downstairs. They are safe and unharmed. The individuals from upstairs are still in hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation.
“The house was an old building that was difficult to overhaul. The sawdust and insulation in the roof made it challenging. The kitchen and living room are destroyed," said Lawrie Skolrood, Veron deputy fire chief.
A cause for the fire has not been determined yet.
