Theft alert issued to Vernon drivers
It’s still happening and Vernon RCMP are, again, sending a message to people who own motor vehicles:
Do not leave anything of value inside your car.
This message comes after RCMP responded to a number of thefts from vehicles Saturday.
The thefts occurred in the 4600 block of Bella Vista Road, the 3000 block of 39th Avenue and 3500 block of 40th Avenue.
“Our officers are reminding everyone to remove items from your vehicles that will attract thieves to your vehicles,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “I know an individual was arrested last week but it appears we have other ones filling in the gap.”
An 18-year-old man was arrested last week in the Okanagan Landing.
The latest thefts included the culprit or culprits smashing vehicle windows to get to the items.
In some thefts, vehicles have been left unlocked.
Anyone with any information on these thefts is asked to call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
