Enderby credit union creates $500,000 endowment
The Enderby and District Credit Union has created a $500,000 fund for community initiatives.
Allocated solely from EDCU’s retained earnings, the endowment will start distributing grants to charities in the Enderby area beginning in 2014.
The decision was made as part of EDCU merging with First West Credit Union.
“As one of the EDCU board’s final activities, we wanted to create a legacy for our community, one that could benefit the community for decades to come,” said Quentin Bruns, board chairperson.
“So we created the Enderby and district endowment. It’s another way our local credit union can give back to the community in the years ahead.”
The endowment will be with the First West Foundation.
“I’ve seen firsthand the difference these endowments can make in a community over the years,” said Seline Kutan, foundation executive director.
Effective April 1, EDCU will be known as Enderby and District Financial, a division of First West Credit Union.
