Targeted drug operation results in arrests
Vernon RCMP officers were on target Saturday.
Members of a targeted policing unit executed a search warrant in a unit at the Green Valley Motel in the 2500 block of 25th Avenue Saturday.
The warrant was directed at the alleged trafficking activities of several suspects, and resulted in the arrest of a number of people.
Two men, aged 31 and 24, were held in custody.
“A 24-year-old had outstanding warrants and was wanted for breach of conditions, and the other man, 31, is well-known to police,” said Molendyk. “He is being held for possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.”
RCMP officers did find drugs and paraphernalia in the motel unit during the search.
The motel and its occupants had been under police watch for some time.
“Targeted policing means a group of officers will go after the prolific offenders in the community,” explained Molendyk. “They are the individuals that help crime levels rise within our community. They’re the more active ones and we’re targeting them.”
The arrested pair were slated to appear in Vernon Provincial Court Tuesday.
