Vernon lawyer appointed Supreme Court Justice
The law office for Gary Weatherill is changing.
The partners of Vernon’s Nixon Wenger law firm are pleased and proud to announce that Weatherill has been appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Weatherill attended the University of British Columbia and obtained a bachelor of science degree in 1974, and a bachelor of law in 1979.
He was admitted to the Bar of British Columbia in 1980 when he began practicing with Nixon Wenger.
Weatherill has been a partner for the past 31 years, specializing in the areas of civil litigation and personal injury law. He is a past president of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2008.
Weatherill has been a strong contributor to the community, supporting numerous organizations and events.
Professionally, he served on the Ethics Committee for the Law Society of British Columbia from September 2011 to the date of his appointment. He has also been a member of the board of directors and vice-president of Braintrust Canada since 2008, was a member of the Kalamalka Rotary Club from 1984 to 1998 and most recently was nominated as the 2013 Good Guy of the Year in honour of his ongoing efforts to support the North Okanagan Community Life Society (NOCLS).
