Vernon patrol looks to lock out crime

The Vernon Citizens Patrol has started its holiday Lock Out Auto Crime program.

In conjunction with ICBC and the Vernon- North Okanagan RCMP, this program is designed to raise public awareness and reduce crime through education and presence.

The Citizens Patrol volunteers will be checking vehicles in parking lots throughout Vernon and completing a crime prevention notice, identifying  key areas where drivers can improve or eliminate the opportunity for a crime to take place.

The Citizens Patrol can be identified by their high-visibility yellow jackets with “RCMP Volunteer” on the back.

Please feel free to ask volunteers about the program.
