January sentencing date set for regional district

Barring another delay, the Regional District of North Okanagan will be sentenced on four counts connected to a water contamination case in early 2014.

A date of Jan. 16, 2014 has now been set for sentencing in Vernon Provincial Court.

RDNO was found guilty in September of four charges in connection with the contamination of the Antwerp Springs water system in Coldstream in January 2012.

Sentencing was set for October but the matter was delayed when Judge Mayland McKimm told Crown and defence lawyers he was upset with comments heard on CBC Radio the day after the regional district was found guilty.

A new date was set for December but that got delayed when Crown laywer Joel Gold was involved in a murder trial when sentencing was to take place for RDNO.
