The City of Vernon has lost one of its biggest boosters.

City councillor and Regional District of North Okanagan chairperson Patrick Nicol has died.

He was 64.

Nicol was a longtime broadcaster and radio station general manager. His length of service on Vernon city council was among the longest of any councillor in B.C.

“His dedication to his community was a foundation of his life and work,” said Mayor Rob Sawatzky. “We will all greatly miss his wisdom and kindness, as well as his efforts to make his community a better place.”
