Suspect faces theft charges

Lumby RCMP have arrested the same individual twice in connection with a rash of theft from vehicles and theft of vehicles in the Mabel Lake-Trinity Valley roads area.

Const. Henry Proce said in late December how his detachment made a significant arrest following a spike in theft of and from vehicles in that area.

The suspect was taken into custody, subsequently charged with Criminal Code offences, then released on strict conditions.

However, two weeks after the arrest, prowler complaints and theft of vehicle complaints still continued in the area of those two roads.

On the night of Jan. 12, police received a report of a vehicle stolen from the intersection of Hurt and Mabel Lake Roads, and the suspect was arrested the next night.

Ryan Tyler Young, 32, of Lumby, has been charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, and has been remanded in custody.

Young is slated to appear in Vernon Provincial Court today.
