Public assistance is being sought after an alleged assault and possible forcible confinement.

According to the Vernon RCMP, a 28-year-old woman was assaulted, sustained threats and may have been forcibly confined by up to five individuals Feb. 20.

“This is still an ongoing file,” said Gord Molendyk, detachment spokesman.

“It’s a file with many twists and turns.”

The incident took place between 7 and 8:30 a.m. in the area of 35th Avenue and 34th Street and then in 3700 block of Pleasant Valley Road.

The vehicle involved was a blue Toyota 4Runner.

One or two suspects were arrested and the remainder of the suspects are still being sought.

The victim sustained minor injuries and it’s believed she knew the suspects.

Anyone with information about the incident or saw suspicious activity in those areas is asked to contact Const. Bowhey at the Vernon detachment or at stephanie.bowhey@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

“A couple were observed assisting the woman and they are asked to contact the detachment because they may have valuable information,” said Molendyk.
