Safeway gas bar robbed

A robbery at the Safeway gas bar has RCMP on the hunt for a suspect.

Officers from the Vernon detachment were called to the incident Monday at about 4:50 p.m.

“A lone male entered the business with his face covered and demanded money,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

“The clerk complied and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money from the till.”

The suspect was last seen heading south from the gas bar.

He is described as being about six feet tall; thin build, with short brown hair. He was wearing a grey hoody, dark pants possibly sweats and possibly white shoes.

The police are asking anyone who might have seen a person matching the description of the suspect in the area or if anyone has any information on this robbery to please call the Vernon detachment at 250-545-7171 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
