Fire sparked from burn pile

What started as a small burn pile spread ended up burning four to five acres of hillside above Swan Lake Saturday.

BX-Swan Lake and Armstrong firefighters spent three hours battling the blaze in the 6900 block of Old Kamloops Road after the call came in at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday.

BX-Swan Lake firefighters will also put their skills to use Tuesday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. for a prescribed burn off East Vernon Road.

Approximately three to four acres of grass land will be used in the interface training for the department.
