Vernon teachers question postponement of cross-country run

Teachers are challenging the decision of the Vernon School District.

In a release, the Vernon Teachers Association says the district has decided to postpone the cross-country run at the DND fields Wednesday because of concerns for student safety.

"Voluntary activities are not affected by the teachers' job action in stage one (strike action)," said Heather Malcolm, VTA president.

"Teachers are still participating in extra-curricular activities. As far as the VTA is aware, teacher coaches were still planning on fulfilling their commitment to students for this event."
