Road checks begin

The kickoff to summer comes with an RCMP presence on area roadways.

Vernon-North Okanagan officers will be out as part of a national impaired driving day campaign today.

“Our officers will be doing road checks and there could be some small road blocks set up,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

“This is a Canada-wide campaign. As you know, there’s a good chance of finding impaired drivers over the summer as there is at Christmas, if not more so.”

Molendyk said officers will be patrolling throughout the North Okanagan.
