Vernon has never placed in the Miss, Mrs. and Miss Teen BC Pageant in the pageant’s entire 12-year history…until this weekend, when Carlita Nair walked out with the Miss BC Interior crown.

Nair states in her biography on the Miss BC website that she believes in testing boundaries and standing up for what she believes, regardless of consequence or social stigmas.

“I strongly believe that one person is capable of moving a generation,” she explains, and she intends to do just that.

Along with eight regional titles, the top provincial titles crowned at this year’s event in Fort Langley were Miss BC, Mrs. BC, Miss Teen BC and Miss BC Charity.

The pageant will be broadcast on Shaw Television later this month.

“Unlike self-styled beauty pageants, Miss BC is about finding role models for B.C. women. As a result, the judges are looking for well-spoken, well-rounded, intelligent and outgoing women,” said director Darren Storsley. “Carlita was definitely recognized for her passion and self-confidence.”

The Miss, Mrs. and Miss Teen BC Pageant is already conducting interviews for the 2015 pageant.  Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online at http://www.missbc.ca.
