Truck strikes power pole

A single-vehicle accident on Kal Lake Road Sunday morning resulted in a damaged power pole and a hefty fine for the driver.

Members of the Vernon RCMP detachment responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a power pole on Kalamalka Lake Road, near Browne Road, shortly before 9 a.m.

“A black Ford Ranger had gone off the road on the right-hand side and struck a Hydro pole,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

B.C. Hydro crews attended and replaced the heavily damaged power pole.

The driver of the truck, a Vernon man, was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention which comes with a $368 fine.
