Blaze destroys Spall residence

More details are known about a fire that destroyed two structures in Spallumcheen.

Firefighters were called to the 1200 block of Otter Lake Cross Road Aug. 1 at about 7:23 p.m.

“The initial structure was gone before we got there,” said Ian Cummings, Armstrong-Spallumcheen fire chief.

The blaze also consumed a detached shop and caused some damage to an adjacent home.

“It was something with the heat,” said Cummings.

Investigators sifted through the debris on the weekend.

“The probable cause is electrical,” said Cummings.

“We have contacted the RCMP and this is now their case.”
