Vernon railway crossing upgrades to affect traffic

Selected railway crossings in Vernon are getting a makeover.

Starting Sept. 2, CN crews will be reconstructing the 48th Avenue railway crossing due to failing railway track; the work is expected to take two days to complete.

During construction, 48th Avenue from 31st Street to Anderson Way will be closed to through-traffic.

The 43rd Avenue crossing is scheduled to be reconstructed following the completion of the 48th Avenue crossing with an expected start date of Sept. 4.

The work is expected to take two days to complete. During construction, 43rd Avenue from Highway 97 to 31st Street will be closed to through-traffic.

Motorists are advised to obey traffic control devices and follow posted detour routes.
