Building booming

With four months to go, building stats already above 2016 numbers

Construction is booming in Coldstream.

August building stats more than doubled in the neighbouring Vernon community, compared to August 2016, and year to date numbers are well above last year.

A total of 23 permits were issued with a value of nearly $5.3 million last month.

“This compares to 10 permits and construction value of $2,274,000 for the same month last year,” said Bob Bibby, building official, in a report.

“Total construction value to date is two million more than 2016 year end, and we have four more months to go.”

The total number of housing units in 2017 is five more than 2016.

Overall permits issued is almost double: 69 compared to 113.
