The City of Vernon has activated the emergency operations centre for potential emergencies.

Officials are preparing for possible flooding within the city’s boundaries Thursday.

“The weather forcasts indicate rainfall in the region and potential for high-flow conditions,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, communications officer.

“Residents in low-lying areas should prepare for overflow of our creeks and streams and take measures to protect their property.”

Stockpiles of sandbags are available at the following locations:

Vernon city operations (1900 48th Ave.) outside main gate of Pleasant Valley Road

Corner of Okanagan Avenue and Okanagan Landing Road

4005 Pleasant Valley Rd.

Okanagan Hills Boulevard and Bella Vista Rd. intersection
