Bretany Tourout/Morning Star Dave Frost, with the North Okanagan Canada Day Society, announces the events to take place at this year’s Craftsman Collision Canada Day Fireworks at Vernon’s Kin Beach.

Canada Day will be a real blast in Vernon.

The Craftsman Collision Canada Day fireworks soar at Kin Beach Saturday at 10:30 p.m. and some safety precautions will be taken because of the high water.

“It’s a strange year with the flooding,” said Dave Frost, North Okanagan Canada Day Society president.

Lakeshore Road will close from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. from Tronson Road to 2683 Lakeshore Rd. so people will need to use alternate transportation to access the beach.

Parking will be available at Marshall Field, where a shuttle bus will await to transfer people to and from Kin Beach.

A VIP area will be available to a lucky early few who will get the best view and a chance at winning prizes, such as an opportunity to skydive.

Prior to the fireworks, Okanagan Skydive will be providing an aerial show.

“It will be very impressive,” said Frost.

Sandy Beach and Paddlewheel Park will have some of the best views and Bella Vista and Bench Row Road are ideal viewing points for those who want some distance.

NOCDS has created a gofundme page for the Canada Day celebration as there is an $8,379 shortfall for the festivities at Polson Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

NOCDS is also encouraging people to still volunteer for the celebrations.
