Driver leaves scene of single-vehicle accident

CHERRYVILLE: White Ford F150 discovered on its roof on side of Highway 6 Thursday afternoon

The search continues for the driver of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 6 Thursday.

Police were notified that a white Ford F150 pickup headed eastbound on Highway 6 left the snow-covered road, about 30 kilometres east of Cherryville, hit a snowbank and ended up on its roof.

A call came from passers-by, who arrived upon the scene, shortly before 4 p.m. The driver was not in or around the vehicle.

“No one saw anything,” said RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

B.C. Ambulance, Lumby Fire Department and Vernon Search and Rescue personnel were called. A search of the area found no trace of the driver.

The fire department used its thermal imaging camera.

Police checked the licence plate and the last known address of the truck’s registered owner, which is in the Nakusp area, but discovered the owner no longer lives there.

The truck had not been reported as stolen.
