Fire at Big White

The Big White fire department was called into action on Monday.

Snow might still be on the ground at Big White Ski Resort, but fire crews were still called into action on Monday.

The Big White fire department fought flames from a lightning strike that set a tree ablaze in the Enchanted Forest section of the mountain near the Alpine T-bar.

The lightning strike ended up causing two fires for crews to douse.

According to the Big White Fire Department’s Facebook page, while the snow might still be on the ground the mountain is tinder dry.

It appear the fire that started Monday afternoon, is now under control.

Big White opened on the weekend for the summer season, where guests can enjoy chairlift rides, hiking and mountain biking.

There still might be snow on the ground up top, but as you can see it's dry. Lightning strikes caused two small fires, BWFD crews actioning.
